Tidy desk, tidy mind

Thursday, 1 May 2014

I'm definitely someone who lives by the "tidy room, tidy mind," mantra. If my bedroom is a mess, studying just ain't gonna happen. Whether this is a form of procrastination or mild OCD I'm not sure, but lately I've been investing in some homeware bits and bobs to help keep clutter at a minimum and my uni room looking homely. Do excuse the dull lighting in these photos, I live in Sheffield (enough said).

Here's a little overview of what I have stashed on my desk. A couple of magazines and notebooks are always floating around, and the Blog Inc book is by Joy Cho. I keep my make-up brushes (mostly Real Techniques) in an Ikea plant pot, and the patterned desk mirror is from HomeSense.

Those of you who read beauty blogs will be all too familiar with the Muji acrylic storage. So far my makeup collection only fills two double stacked drawers, although there is now some slight overflow. Not good!

The blush drawer is my favourite. They are my weakness! I don't even want to know how much the contents of that drawer comes to.

I picked up this desk organiser from the Martha Stewart range at Staples, which consists of various components you can slot together to personalise your storage. I feel incredibly lame telling you I got a little too excited about this.

Here's a few random bits I keep in my desk organiser. The notebooks and sticky labels are from John Lewis, and I have a couple of Maybelline lip balms to hand.

I won't lie, I don't tend to organise the drawer. It just keeps a couple more notebooks, a book and my beloved Urban Decay naked 2 palette!

I'll leave you with a photo of my cheesy motivational phone background! When my make-up collection actually gets big enough to call a "collection" I might do a post on that. More beauty posts will be heading your way this week, including a look at my current skincare favourites...You can spot a couple of them in this post!
