July Beauty Favourites

Saturday, 2 August 2014

July was one of those blink-and-you-missed-it months. I've been working 6 days a week, spending any spare time/ days off I have sorting the flat in London or searching for jobs- other than graduation that is! It was a busy, stressful but life-changing month, and I found myself reaching for some old favourites in the beauty stakes to keep me looking normal. *pauses for breath*

The first notable mention goes to Marc Jacobs Lola. I haven't used this in a while and forgive me, I'm terrible at describing scents, but it instantly makes me feel more "put together" if that makes sense... It's perfect for a bit of a pick-me-up on otherwise dull days and it was my graduation perfume of choice. It's going to stay a firm favourite for the coming weeks.

Those early mornings heading to work and late nights completing job applications have left me with some pretty awful dark circles, but the Seventeen Phwoarr Paint has worked its magic on me! It completely conceals everything and doesn't budge all day, plus it's the perfect colour match for my super pale skin. It's a great budget dupe for the Benefit Boi-ing concealer and I can see myself getting through pots and pots of this stuff.

I've been all about fuss-free products this past month, and my trusty Tangle Teezer has been there to assist me in multiple situations- from tackling an unsightly dreadlock-esque knot, to smoothing hair into a ponytail on those days where I just can't be bothered, to helping backcomb when I want a little more 'oomph.' Who doesn't love a multitasker?

Lack of sleep (and sun... being stuck inside an office all day is the worst!) has meant that my skin has been looking a little pale and pasty. I've been reaching for Benefit Coralista (an old favourite... does the battered box give it away?) to help give my cheeks a much-needed flush of colour, leaving me with a healthy glow not even 9 hours kip could provide.

Benefit have been really winning in my eyes this past month, and their It's Potent Eye Cream is the second of three very worthy products to make my favourites list. This eye cream instantly soothes and brightens up the eye area, and acts as a great duo with the Seventeen Concealer to keep me looking as awake as possible. I love to use this morning and night, but be careful- get any in your eye and it stings really bad (I learnt the hard way).

It's been a very sticky, humid few weeks in the UK, and sometimes simply just cleansing doesn't get rid of that horrible, congested feeling I get on my skin. Enter the Liz Earle Skin Tonic. I recalled its soothing qualities and dug it out of my skincare stash, and I've been using it every day ever since. It really does help calm everything down, remove those last few traces of make-up and leave skin feeling fresh and clean.

The final product I've fallen back in love with throughout July is the Benefit Stay Flawless 15-hour Primer. When the weather is humid, make-up tends to pretty much evaporate off of my face, leaving my foundation looking patchy, my mascara somewhere down by my chin and my general face in a bit of a shiny mess. This primer seems to be the only thing that's helped my make-up stay preserved, as if just applied. Win.

What products have you been loving this past month?

  2. I've wanted to try the Tangle Teezer for ages! I have quite frizzy and knotty hair, so this could really help! On the theme of unruly hair, my favourite product this month has to be the L'oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil- it really adds shine and smells gorgeous! :)

  5. I love that Benefit eye cream. I think I need something like the tangle teezer, my cheap hairbrush just isn't cutting it.
